Cheena Bakes — a direct-to-consumer cake ordering app, built for the bakery

Cheena Bakes is a direct-to-consumer ordering app we are building for an eggless cake brand. It puts a customisable catalogue, direct UPI payments, and a loyalty programme in customers' hands, with an admin panel to run it. This is a client build, currently in development.

Cheena Bakes is a direct-to-consumer ordering app we are building for an eggless cake brand. It puts a customisable catalogue, direct UPI payments, and a loyalty programme in customers' hands, with an admin panel to run it. This is a client build, currently in development.

The problem
  • A neighbourhood cake brand wanted to take orders directly, without the cost and friction of a third-party marketplace.
  • Cakes are customisable by weight and message, which a generic catalogue does not handle well.
  • Marketplace and gateway fees eat into the margin on each order.
  • The owner needs a simple way to manage the catalogue and incoming orders without technical overhead.
  • Repeat customers had no structured way to be recognised or rewarded.
Our approach
  • Scoped the build around the bakery's real ordering flow, framed honestly as software made for one client rather than a general product.
  • Designed a catalogue model that supports per-order customisation — weight and message — rather than fixed SKUs only.
  • Chose UPI QR payments to take money directly and avoid gateway fees on each order.
  • Kept the admin side simple so the owner can manage the catalogue and orders without training.
  • Planned the work in stages toward a public launch, with delivery tracking to follow.

FAQ

Questions about this build

Is Cheena Bakes a Sammed Technosol product?

No. Cheena Bakes is a client build — a direct-to-consumer ordering app made for the bakery brand, not an in-house product. It is currently in development.

How does the app handle payments?

The app uses UPI QR payments, which let the bakery collect money directly without per-order payment gateway fees.

Can customers customise their cakes when ordering?

Yes. The catalogue lets customers set the weight and add a message, rather than choosing only from fixed options.
